Any area mountain biker can join CROCT’s online discussion forum

CROCT started hosting a Google Groups for discussing mountain biking-related issues and news in Rice County, MN last December. We also use the list to coordinate mtb group rides. It’s open to anyone who’s interested in CROCT and mountain biking.

Here’s a screengrab of the list of topics that have seen discussions recently:

If you’d like to be added to the list, fill out the form here.  The Group is private because A) we insist on using real first and last names; B) I moderate it with an iron fist to insure civility.

Using MTB Project’s map tools for the Sechler Park Trail

MTB Project

MTB Project bills itself as the “next generation of mountain bike trail maps” and is in partnership with IMBA. Among their many map-related features and tools, they make it possible to embed their maps on a website. We now have a Sechler Park Trail page where we’ve done this.

(See the MTB Project site for a full-description of the Sechler Park trail and a virtual ride.  The map there can be toggled full screen.)

If you’re using a mobile device, get one the MTB Project mobile apps. One of the best features? “Works with no cell signal, including all mapping and geolocating features.”

Anyone can submit edits to the Sechler Park trail on MTB Project.  We need to have more photos of the trail submitted, especially ones of people with their bikes along the trail.

CROCT’s new trail conditions Twitter feed

We’ve now got a second CROCT Twitter feed, devoted strictly to trail conditions:

@CROCTconditions

We have an upper left sidebar widget for it here on our website and a link to it on the nav bar.

We’ll continue to post trail conditions to the CROCT Facebook page timeline. And whenever there’s a significant update with Sechler Park trail conditions that requires more explanation that can be done in a tweet, we’ll post an update here on the blog.

Update Dec. 21:  Now that we have a Google Groups discussion for CROCT, we’ll have an ongoing discussion topic there devoted to the Sechler Park trail, including conditions.
